With New York F/W 09 fashion week quickly approaching, all anyone can do is talk about how "different" and "depressing" this fashion week will be because of the recession. As Style.com put it:
Marc Jacobs has cut his invite list in half. Calvin Klein and Zac Posen have canceled their after-parties. Other designers have downsized to showroom presentations. And—horrors!—town cars are off-limits. But there are still plenty of reasons to get excited about the shows. We've counted 20 silver linings.

While they tried to discuss the "20 silver linings" of the recession-ized fashion week such as "cozy dinners" and more eco-friendly fashion, they missed the MAJOR one that me (and many people) are most looking forward to -- maybe they're considering this a hot pink and glittery lining?...

Richie Rich (formerly of Heatherette) is putting on his first solo show next week. And, I can assure you, this will in no way be "downsized". It'll add a bit of cheer to the otherwise somber state of New York at this generally exciting time. TRUST ME! Plus the great news is is that I HEAR his price point for his new line is going to be completely marketable (think Macy's...). Should be FUN!

Oh, and as Style.com DID mention and I cannot wait to see...

And it doesn't end there. Following her NYFW debut, Barbie heads home to Malibu for the grand opening of her Jonathan Adler-designed Dream House. Our Euro trip was amazing and probably the most fun I have ever had. We saw so many beautiful things and pieces of history, all while drinking tons of German beer (and wodka) and meeting great people. The trip has inspired me to go "backpacking" when my lease in Philadelphia is up. So at the end of April/beginning of May, I am going to buy a one-way plane ticket to Europe and go wherever my little heart desires. Maybe by the time I return the economy will have turned around? We can hope.

A very snowy Neuschwanstein Castle. Getting there was one of the craziest adventures of my life. Since neither of the Americans could actually drive a manual, our one Australian friend (Kevin Jonas) had to drive. This seemed like a good idea until we realized that in Australia they drive on the other side of the road. And they do not have snow. But we somehow made it there and back alive.

Biggest bestest beers ever. Oktoberfest 2k9? Dead serious.

While most probably think the 'Princess' necklace that I share with my cat is a ~funny joke~, the rarely spoken about German side of my family is from the royal line in Bavaria and in a little more than a week I will be visiting the very famous castle built by one of my crazy ancestors... Neuschwanstein, the castle that inspired the Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella Castles in Disneyland and Disneyworld. This is one of the things that I am most excited about seeing in Germany!

I most likely will not have any free time between now and leaving for Berlin in just over 40 hours. For those curious about my itinerary for the next couple of weeks... That's why I thought it is so cool that her sister, Khloe (yeah... that one...), posed for a PETA anti-fur campaign.

While I do not agree with a lot of the things they do and everything that they stand for, I do love their general mission. Khloe looks really beautiful in the campaign. However, I am wondering why PETA has not approached Victoria Beckham to do an anti-fur campaign? She is an outward vegetarian and the epitome of how faux fur can be high fashion. They don't call her 'Posh' for nothing.

Whenever I go to The Met the first thing I do is go to the 'Costume' section of the book/gift shop. I always find something amazing and yesterday's trip was no exception.

About 25% of the shoes in there made me think "thank god I didn't live then", about 25% made me almost have a heart attack and die because I was so in love, and then there were a few things in the book that were just SO INSANE/amazing! Like the "Shoes to Eat" collection by Tokio Kumagai.

The meat one (above) was the only image I could find on the internet, but the collection was definitely really cool, and if you are in a book store I would suggest checking it out.

Within the museum I was excited to (finally) see Willie Cole's sculpture "Shine":

OK I am obviously obsessed with footwear but this piece is just really amazing when taken into the context of his work and I just find it very visually appealing. As we are all well aware, I am completely into any reunion or comeback tour, particularly those that are 90s based. So obviously this morning I bought tickets for Britney Spears / Pussycat Dolls. At first I was going to buy the best seats but then realized how stupid I would be to spend so much money on Britney Spears so I ended up with mezzanine, whatever. Anyways, while everyone else is concentrating on Britney's comeback, I am far more worried about still loving the old wholesome teenager who dated Justin despite his habit of using a full bottle of Dep hair gel every single day, who made googly eyes at her cousin in her first music video, who wore full-on matching denim outfits with her boyfriend at the time, who had an innocent yet adorable rivalry with (the much better singer) Christina Aguilera, the Britney who I went to see in ~concert~ approximately 8 times in a three year period (and I am not exaggerating)...

Looking back, the track suits/jerseys were never a good idea... but then she turned into a total bombshell...

And well, we all know what happened next. But the inner teeny bopper inside of me wants her to do amazing and I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this is not a total I-Wanna-Be-Madonna-show, because if there is anything I HATE in this world, it is present day Madonna. Oh and Britney Spears/celebrities whining about how terrrrible her life is, waaah wahhh wahahahah.

All I have ever wanted was to be finished with school and in less than a month I will be handing in my final college paper, taking my last exam, and getting ready for my diploma ceremony; I can't even be excited about it. This economy is so terrible every time I am in the elevator at work I hear about 3 or 1 or 6 people getting laid off from some company in the building. AWESOME time to be looking for a job... I wish I had just begun pushing life off further and applying to grad school or maybe I'll just become a vagabond (RE: Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?").

I hate being a pessimist but I am just hooooping that this gets better soon because I do not want to be a bum and there are lots of things that I want that would make me happy happy happyyyy!

I saw this picture on The Sartorialist and my heart stopped beating. I am absolutely in love with everything about it. It makes me want to be on an exotic beach wearing a gorgeous bright long flowing dress and drinking a mojito... years ago I decided that due to my height (or lack thereof) I should never wear long dresses but this photograph makes me reconsider.
Instead I am like every other girl in an east coast metropolitan area... black black and more black every single day. My wardrobe at the moment is black leggings with a steady rotation of various boots(top optional?). I tried to change this up slightly the other day when I was at the new Jersey Shore Outlets (amazing, by the way) by buying a pair of gorgeous chocolate brown boots. After wearing them last night and realizing walking in them was like walking on 5 inches of heaven, I asked my dad to please please please go back to the outlets and get me them in black as well so that now I can wear a variation of these boots every single day and fool the world into thinking I am 5'8"... which would be a perfect height to wear that flowing dress above, wouldn't it? Ohhh who am I kidding?

Jimmy Eat World will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its classic Clarity by playing the album in its entirety for 10 one-time-only shows beginning February 23 in New York City and concluding March 7 in the band's native Arizona.

And you knoooow I got my tickets during the pre-sale this morning. February 25, 2009 at the Trocadero I will be seeing the greatest tour that I could ever dream up (OK, besides a Beatles reunion tour, but I am trying to be realistic). It is safe to say Clarity has been and always will be one of the most important albums I have heard in my entire life. Uhm, hi:

Every single song on that album has so much meaning to me, and so many people of our generation. The best thing in the world is when I meet someone and they KNOW why I have a tattoo that says Clarity. Jimmy Eat World fans, particularly from the Clarity days, are completely a part of something... they have brought so many of my friends and I closer together.
If Jimmy Eat World's Clarity is not in your Top 10 favorite albums (I am tempted to say Top 5...) then you are not leading a fulfilled life.
Since I found out about this tour all I can do is listen to Clarity. Do yourself a favor and watch, in awe, this video of a remix of 'A Sunday' that they filmed in one take in Japan...

I am THE biggest sucker for boy bands/anything boy band related/pop group reunion tours, so obviously going to the New Kids On The Block reunion tour last night was one of the defining moments of my life. OBVIOUSLY. It could not have been better/more fun (unless it had ended with Jonathan Knight falling in love with me -- or they kicked ugly monkey face Danny out of the group)! And since I have been watching their song with Ne-Yo, "Single", on repeat for the last 2 hours at work, I figured I should share the wealth. Plus, the video is filmed inside Jet, the club I have been to many times at the Mirage in Las Vegas, so I am pretty sure them + me = Kindred spirits. ENJOY! And you can thank me later.

I know that I am not the only person who couldn't hold back the tears last night during the election coverage... Our country is finally proving to the ENTIRE world that we are not stupid people that thinks the universe revolves solely around us. I was reading many German, Swiss, and UK news sites today... it is phenomenal how excited even THEY are about what we accomplished. I am so proud of this country and the amount of people that got out to vote yesterday! We truly are a huge part of history and that is just incredible.
However, on a less cheery note, it really saddens me how many closet racists there are in this country -- especially the people in our generation! People who care more about Barack Obama's middle name over his policies and the state that our country is currently in. Or others only care about money, and the funny part about it is that a ton of the people I have seen complaining about that will be getting a tax break under the Democrats? It is 2008, ignorance is not cool? Along with that, Proposition 8 passing in California was a complete shock and really upsets me. Amazing couples (Ellen and Portia, PERFECT, for starters) are going to have this great union taken away from them because of pointless homophobia. With all of the progress we made yesterday as a nation, some people just continue to amaze me... put at least we are taking great steps in the right direction! :)

Since Cirque du Soleil's are ALWAYS amazing and Criss Angel's show, Mindfreak (while I am not a sUpErFaN), is always pretty crazy, we decided to go to the last night of the 'rehearsal' of this show in Las Vegas. I was really interested to see how the two worked together and NEVER would I ever have expected to be so incredibly disappointed by either a Cirque du Soleil or something Criss Angel (ok, minus the theme song for his show). But this show literally put me to sleep at least 7 times, and I was not the only one (I believe the man sitting on the other side of Lauren was napping too). Probably the only redeeming factor was that they served 32oz mixed drinks -- HUGE! Anyway, why did this show suck soo badly? First of all, I would say a good 85% of it was absolutely nothing. Him yapping about something dumb or some mimes doing weirdo mime things. Next, the "story" was not only stupid but it made NO sense. Besides that, the only "magic" he really did was "disappear" and "reappear" somewhere else... along with changing clothes really fast but due to flaws in their operation I am convinced that was done either with lights or some Criss Angel look-a-likes. And besides the Criss Angel bummmmout, there was literally NO Cirque du Soleil aspect to the production at all. When I (or anyone else) thinks of Cirque du Soleil I think of acrobats, contortionists, crazy round stage set ups (this was a standard theater stage)... and all that Believe had was a few elaborate costumes and flexible dancers. Last night was SERIOUSLY more amazing than I ever could have hoped. While seeming very stressful in the beginning -- having to switch between the Project Runway finale and the PHILLIES against the Dodgers when the series was 3-1, come on! But anyway, it ended up AMAZING and everything went precisely how I wanted so, YAY.

The INCREDIBLE Philadelphia Phillies are GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES. Boo on you, Manny and Joe Torre! I will DIE if I get to got to a World Series game. Perhaps I will take this awesome offer into serious consideration. Uhh, lolz? But seriously, FUCK TAMPA LET'S GO PHILLIES!!! I, along with the rest of Philadelphia, are not going to be normal humans until this series is over... I apologize ahead of time.

And then there was Project Runway. Now, after falling in love with (the dreaded) Kenley's wedding dress, I began to worry that I might fall in love with her collection. However, those fears were quickly cast aside when I saw it and everything either a) sucked (Betsey Johnson clearance rack anyone?), b) ripped off of Balenciaga (you and I are on the exact same page, Nina), or c) ripped off of Alexander McQueen. Oh, yes Kenley, we know, you don't "look" at other designers. First of all, that is a blatant lie because I highly doubt it was just coincidence that you put out rip-offs of two of the most important designers in the world right now less than a year after they did it. But, if you really do not... YOU NEED TO. Throughout history, every important artist/designer/writer has not only looked at but learned from and collaborated with other important artists of their time. Tim was right when he said she needs a fashion history course. However, there was one non-rip-off that I LOVED:

Next was Korto who absolutely SHOCKED me in such a good way. Her line was so fun and original yet totally wearable. Seriously, give me these now:

I almost got torn between wanting her and Leanne to win because I LOVED her collection so much... however Leanne had been a consistent favorite of mine throughout the entire season and her collection was absolutely bringing fashion to a new level. It wasn't just "original" but her collection has seriously NEVER been seen before and I loved it!

Two albums I had been pretty excited about came out today...

Keane - Perfect Symmetry
This album, in typical Keane fashion, sounds a lot like The Killers. However, the songs are really fun/good and the album is definitely worth trying out. I have only listened to it completely through one time so far so I have to listen to it again a few times before I form a real opinion on it, but what I DO know is that listening to it that one time through is that it has made me even more excited for The Killers' new album, Day & Age, to come out on November 25 (or to leak before that). The first single, 'Human', is REALLY good... a little different sounding without sounding like a completely different band. And, from what I remember when I saw them in August, the other new songs sounded amazing as well. Now if they would only release a video for 'Human' so I could get my Brandon Flowers fill.

Copeland - You Are My Sunshine
They are one of those bands that I have loved forever (hi my screenname is from their first split EP that came out in high school) and although they never do anything revolutionary, they always come out with a good album with great lyrics sang by an incredible voice. And that is pretty much what this album is like. So if you like sappy ~love~ songs (that have gotten a bit more optimistic with this album) then you would really like the album. My personal ABSOLUTEFAVORITESONGTHATIAMOBSESSEDWITH is 'On the Safest Ledge'. Here is the (really bad) video for the first single, 'The Grey Man'...

Due to our excessive love of tailgating, Lauren and I decided WEEKS ago that we should buy an RV. Not only would it be perfect pre-baseball/football/hockey games, but we would never need to get a hotel room again! Think about it... drive, get wasted, sleep in your RV. Even after a stellar offer a group of older gentlemen gave us ($22k), my dad was not understanding our want, I AM SORRY -- NEED, for an RV. However, I feel now that this bad boy is on the market, that is all about to change:

While the inside is not yet furnished, we all know from the SPICEWORLD movie that the bus jumps drawbridges and that is just not something any standard RV does. Therefore, NEED NEED NEED. Perhaps we can make some sort of "deal" where they also include one of these, and then there will be no more questions asked:

A bug zapper! Why is this necessary, you may be wondering... WELL! For shots! And we have tested this out before. It is glorious. Although I am not sure it was properly rinsed and I did get shot in the face/hair, in theory it is an incredible idea and feel with more practice it will be the best idea in the entire world.

It really boggles my mind after the VP debates last night (and this past month in general) that people can take Sarah Palin seriously. Oh and to make this clear before my rant, I do not dislike Republicans, I simply think that the Republican candidates for this election happen to be horrendous. Palin's stand-up comedy routine last night was nothing but avoiding the question and attack tactics (plus she referred to Biden as an Obama-Biden hybrid, "Obiden"), and in the end, all that we learned about the Republicans' campaign was, basically, that THEY DO NOT THINK BUSH HAS DONE ANYTHING WRONG. Palin and McCain are, to put it lightly, STUPID, if they do not have any plans to change George W. Bush's economic and foreign policy positions that over these last eight years have proven to be absolutely horrendous. Pulling out of a pointless war is not "throwing out a white flag", it is admitting to a mistake and not putting any more American lives at risk because of it. Only a greedy and bloodthirsty leader would not realize that we should be planning how to pull the troops out of the middle east, and a good leader MUST admit when they are wrong otherwise problems will never be resolved. Oh and, the economy isn't really thaaaaat bad, huh? To quote Sarah Palin, "Uuuuuummmmmmm..........". On a lighter note, I now love Joe Biden a THOUSAND TIMES MORE because he was laughing at Palin throughout the entire debate. And for further laughs:

Kenley Must Go!

I haven't posted about Project Runway in a while... but, a few weeks ago I decided I wanted the final 3 to be Leanne (aka Bunny #1), Jerrell, and Korto. At this point I REALLY cannot decide who I like best out of these three but am super excited to see their final collections and decide who my favorite is. They all have very different points of view yet are all relevant to everything going on in the fashion world today. But, what I was positive about was this one thing: Kenley must NOT be a part of the final 3. Yes, at first I really enjoyed her work but ... okay, we get it, you do 50s inspired dresses. THRILLING. However, this lack of innovation was not the thing that put me over the edge with her... it is the fact that she has THEEE worst attitude in the entire world. #1, don't blame everyone else (poor Bunny) for your short comings and mistakes. #2, take constructive criticism to heart and do just get defensive (believe it or not, Tim Gunn DOES know what he is talking about, and 98% of the time the judges DO agree with him). #3, very important point here - DO NOT SASS HEIDI! Ok, a little sassin' might be acceptable once. But. Being an outright bitch to Heidi. No no no!

Last nights episode (Nature Calls) was kiiind of upsetting (ie: lots of what were they thinking moments) but I feel that often happens when it is down to the final 4 on the show because it is so stressful! Anyway, the runway looks:

Oasis' new(ish) song "The Shock of the Lightning" makes me extremely happy because it isn't total shit like most of the recent stuff that have put out and it sounds a lot like the Oasis that is one of my favorite bands ever (and kind of like the Foo Fighters, or am I totally crazy??!
And in a surprising turn of events, it appears the approaching release of their new album, Dig Out Your Soul, has caused Noel Gallagher to stop being the biggest dickhead in the world and offer their album for "free" on their Myspace page a week early (very surprising after all of the ...wonderful... things he had to say about Radiohead's pay what you will release). The Coen Bros. did it again!

Seriously, if you have any sort of self respect, go see Burn After Reading AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It was sooo funny, and I am slightly obsessed with Brad Pitt's character (even though I have a slight dislike towards him in recent years due to his relationship with a certain individual...). But the story was really different than most of the dribble that comes out these days (however, I am still entertained by that stuff, too) and every character was really good, although their behavior patterns made me slightly depressed.

Dexter is one of those shows I never really made a huge attempt to get into. While I have seen almost episode due to the obsession my roommate(s) and friends have with the show, Dexter's sister, DEB (played by Jennifer Carpenter aka dumb bitch from Emily Rose), makes me want to rip my hair out... so it kind of kept me away. But last night there was a gap in my TV-watching/homework-doing schedule, so I decided to watch the season premiere. It was pretty good, yet as always... totally over the top and unbelievable. But, I guess that just makes it slightly less predictable than "crime dramas" of the past (Law & Order <3). I have yet to decide if "totally over the top and unbelievable" is a good thing or a bad thing, I guess only time will tell...

In my geology class we have been learning a lot about volcanoes... And well, while it makes me very glad that I do not live in Washington State, they are extremely beautiful and interesting.
It really makes me want to go to Hawaii (along with a bunch of other reasons) to see the Volcanoes National Park, and take a helicopter ride into a volcano (eee!)...

I am considering maybe trying to go to Hawaii as my college graduation trip... however, I also REALLY want to go to:

In class my professor showed us this INSANE video of the Tacoma Bridge collapsing in 1940. It is really scary to watch because the entire bridge is literally twisting around until it inevitably snaps and collapses. AND on top of that, in the video you can see the craziest person alive TRY TO DRIVE ACROSS THE BRIDGE. Thank godddd for advances in engineering because all of this was caused simply from wind not being taken into consideration during the design phase. Makes me a leeetle more scared to drive in bad weather!

While there was a lot of talk surrounding Lifetime's original movie, the biography of Coco Chanel, I think the fact that it was THREE HOURS LONG probably scared most people away. But since DVR is the best invention ever, I watched it. While I enjoyed it simply for the fact that it was Gabrielle Chanel's "life story" (to a certain extent), I think that there was more I didn't like about the movie than liked. My biggest gripe... Audrey Tatou played a young Coco Chanel, so fittingly, she had a French accent. Fast-forward to post-World War 2 Coco... Shirley MacLaine, who made absolutely NO attempt at a French accent. Strange that the head of the Parisian fashion world spoke like she was from Ohio, huh? As well as this, like most movies/TV shows/etc, it focused too much on the ~love~ story, when I (and probably a lot of other people) wanted to be seeing the foundation of her fashion empire. Not that this was ignored, but it certainly wasn't a big enough focus in the movie. I guess if you are absolutely a Chanel addict the movie is worth watching, but otherwise, don't waste your time.

Oh and side note... last night I had a dream that Chanel had a store similar to the Marc Jacobs accessories store and I got a nylon oversized Chanel clutch for $220. But since that obviously is not and never will be reality, I have decided I would like a Chanel bag for my college graduation/birthday/Christmas. So if anyone plans on spending over $2k on me this winter, a Chanel bag would be greatly appreciated.

Entourage has been one of my favorite shows since the first day it aired, but like many series, it has definitely started to lose a lot of steam since its beginning. In fact, the new season premiere on September 7th I was debating whether or not I should watch the new episode last night. But I am very glad that I did! It was a hundred times better than the first of the season... Which leads me to my dissection of the show; what it needs more of and less of:
More - Ari Gold (and his interactions with Lloyd and others, loved the Mark Wahlberg appearance), Drama being INSANE, Turtle
Less - E and Vince. Yes, I do realize the show is loosely based around the livelihoods of these characters, but less face it... Vince is boring and E is just SO ANNOYING. I heard many rumors that this season is going to concentrate more on E developing his career as a manager and Vince failing as an actor (which seems true as of last night), so let's just hope they don't revolve the stories around this TOO much... that would be a surefire way to not get signed on for another season.

And lastly, obviously very excited about my favorite GG Princess being on the show:

For the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz (one of my faaavorite movies!), Warner Bros and Swarovski asked some of the world's "top" shoe designers to re-create a 21st century version of Dorothy's ruby slippers. They were all unveiled yesterday, and are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! The will be "touring" for a year and then auctioned off in 2009, with all proceeds going to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Such an incredible idea for an amazing cause!

For quite a while now, I have been absolutely lusting over the Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch. But, since I don't want to spend $4,000+ on a watch OR be twinsies with Cindy McCain and Hillary Clinton, I have discovered a quite suitable replacement that I must get NOW NOW NOW.

ToyWatch makes a ton of really beautiful and affordable "Plasteramic" (not quite plastic, not quite ceramic) watches that look almost identical to Chanel's, without the signature C's.

If I didn't prefer warm climates (without constant snow) and could muster up the nerve to speak more than three words in French, I would move to Montreal in a heartbeat.

The Musee des Beaux Arts (aka Museum of Fine Arts) is really incredible and the Yves Saint Laurent 'Love' exhibit was one of the most phenomenally curated I have ever seen. The viewer was really presented with a great collection of how this amazing designed shaped the fashion world, as well as what influenced him (from cultures to artists to writers to "Princess" Diane von Furstenberg). He was, and always will be, one of the most influential designers in the world, and it is so sad that he is gone. It is amazing to see his simple sketches and watch how it translates into a remarkable piece. I am REALLY happy that I got the huge Yves Saint Laurent "Style" book they were selling.

And as with every (new) city I visit, the shopping was very important (and it also inspired me to start a list of my personal fall fashion must-haves... ~coming soon~). They had a lot of great shops, although not very much that can't be found in America (oh unless you are looking for a Crocs store, they have one of those). BUT I was pleasantly surprised at the Betsey Johnson store there to see that she is now making hair accessories!

I am not exactly daring as far as hair accessories go, but I did get a really cute headband (that I couldn't find a picture of) and plan on working my way up. Yayy Betsey! What took her so long?!

Last night's episode of Project Runway was disappointing to the point where I kind of don't even want to comment on it (how is it that only Joe even DID what the challenge actually was?). However I will say that I am very happy Bunny #2 got kicked off and not my beloved Daniel. I don't see how anyone, even a bunny, could consider this an outfit for a United States Olympian:

I think I am stuck on the Sidekick because of my fond memories of my 2. Before they infiltrated the ghetto of South, North, and West Philadelphia, before anyone except me had a zebra print Sidekick... Back in the day when you were Via Hiptop not "Via Sidekick", and you weren't stuck in the Sidekick/Blackberry limbo because your friends are now split in half. However, my hatred of the Sidekick began for two reasons. The first being, quite simply, T-Mobile sucks. No service anywhere, I don't even understand how I get through class anymore (aka since high school). And NUMBER TWO - the Sidekick 3 (aka the Devil). While my Sidekick 2 had the lifespan of about fifty million cats, my (large number of) Sidekick 3s did not have such strength. I cannot tell you the last time I saw my phone fully intact, or the last time I dropped it off a chair and a piece didn't pop off. ANYWAY! I still have a while until my T-Mobile contract is up and I knew my 3 wasn't going to make it, so yesterday I went and got the "Sidekick (2008)" that came out on July 30th (not to mention the low retail price of $300 -- they practically gave it to me). It is pretty much like the LX except much thinner... plus it has everything the LX update came with: keep away messages up while talking, available messages, video, much better e-mail, etc. The only thing I have found about it that I do not like is that the camera does not have a flash or the option for night time (however, the camera is approximately one million times better than on my 3). But the best thing and what my entire rant is getting at is the SHELLS. It is a feeling of excitement I have not experienced since my very first personal cell phone (ie: one I did not share with my parents simply for my solo mall trips), the Nokia with the changing face plate! Back then I switched between silver, orange, and (dir) zebra. Now I have so many shells to choose from (currently I have on the piss-ish green color it came with because I love how obnoxious it is) and I can't wait to start ordering them (a great way to avoid this paper I am working on). Oh, and soon I plan on having a great custom one made that is probably going to have Miss Dolce's face peaking out over the top.

First, and most obvious, choice:

I missed the chance for commentary on Project Runway Season 5 Episode 2 because I was too busy going to Las Vegas, buuut now that I am back, onto episode 3...

I was VERY happy about the winner (as well as the runner-up), but not so excited about their choice of who to send home. And now that I think about it, I have disagreed with every person they have sent home so far this season.

The things people will do for the sake of beauty... The new "up and coming" pedicure is a fish pedicure, where little carp (toothless fish) nibble away at the dead skin on your feet in a communal tub for about 15-30 minutes, after which you'll get a regular pedicure MINUS the razors. The razors are the part that they were trying to eliminate by creating this crazy pedicure, due to problems at a spa in Virginia (Yvonne Salon) with state regulations regarding razors used during pedicures.
While I love my regular pedicures and I am definitely open to new sorts of beauty treatments, I think it'll be a loooong time before I work up the courage to have a fish pedicure.
