I have a lot of catching up to do on New York Fashion Week because since I was working it aka thousand hour days I didn't have the time. However, I DID see Zac Posen's collection (amazing by the way... numerous grand pianos down the center of the runway) and without even seeing the other designers' collections, I can assure you that his is my favorite. He is perfection and gets better with every new collection. Some of my favorites...
With New York F/W 09 fashion week quickly approaching, all anyone can do is talk about how "different" and "depressing" this fashion week will be because of the recession. As Style.com put it: Marc Jacobs has cut his invite list in half. Calvin Klein and Zac Posen have canceled their after-parties. Other designers have downsized to showroom presentations. And—horrors!—town cars are off-limits. But there are still plenty of reasons to get excited about the shows. We've counted 20 silver linings.
While they tried to discuss the "20 silver linings" of the recession-ized fashion week such as "cozy dinners" and more eco-friendly fashion, they missed the MAJOR one that me (and many people) are most looking forward to -- maybe they're considering this a hot pink and glittery lining?...
Richie Rich (formerly of Heatherette) is putting on his first solo show next week. And, I can assure you, this will in no way be "downsized". It'll add a bit of cheer to the otherwise somber state of New York at this generally exciting time. TRUST ME! Plus the great news is is that I HEAR his price point for his new line is going to be completely marketable (think Macy's...). Should be FUN!
Oh, and as Style.com DID mention and I cannot wait to see...
To celebrate Barbie's big 5-0, Mattel is staging a full-scale runway show. Fifty designers including Anna Sui, Diane von Furstenberg, and Rachel Roy (left) will create looks based on iconic outfits from the doll's archives, with Christian Louboutin supplying the pink patent pumps. And it doesn't end there. Following her NYFW debut, Barbie heads home to Malibu for the grand opening of her Jonathan Adler-designed Dream House. After some R&R, she jets to Paris, where Karl Lagerfeld will open his exhibit on the doll at Colette, and Gareth Pugh and Jeremy Scott will unveil Barbie-inspired capsule collections, also at the store. Here's to 50 and fabulous!
I have never really been a tennis fan but the last time I was in Vegas I decided to bet on the Australian Open. My bet was placed on looks alone and, well, I won. And since then I am basically in love with Rafael Nadal?
Verdasco isn't too bad either, huh?
At this point I can't help but wonder who WOULDN'T be a tennis fan?!
So since I have started at the PR firm that handles Ali Ro, I have become absolutely obsessssed! And after putting together a billion spring 09 look books and celeb giftings, I have decided it is definitely one of my favorite lines for spring 09 and it is totally affordable (plus, getting free dresses never hurt anyone). But definitely get into it now because every editor is just as in love as I am so it is going to be everywhere sooooon.
One of the dresses that a ton of celebs (and me!) got
I LOVE the socks! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
So do yourself a favor and check out the rest of the spring collection on Ali Ro's website!
