KH x Miu Miu

I hate Katie Holmes mostly just because when she talks her mouth is on the side of her face, but I am definitely feeling this new Miu Miu campaign...

I'd Rather Go Naked

While it is no secret that I love Kim Kardashian, I do not love it when she rocks the JLo look...

The slicked hair, the fur, the yuck.
That's why I thought it is so cool that her sister, Khloe (yeah... that one...), posed for a PETA anti-fur campaign.

While I do not agree with a lot of the things they do and everything that they stand for, I do love their general mission. Khloe looks really beautiful in the campaign. Check out the video about why Khloe decided to do the campaign (and a lot of other useful information/really sad videos) at FurIsDead.com.
However, I am wondering why PETA has not approached Victoria Beckham to do an anti-fur campaign? She is an outward vegetarian and the epitome of how faux fur can be high fashion. They don't call her 'Posh' for nothing.

If you see her pop-up in the campaign next year, you know where the idea came from.

Defying the Laws of Physics

Kim Kardashian: your hair, makeup and body are like gifts from the Gods. Do not understand.
How did she somehow get even better looking just by cutting her bangs? I want this hair NOW.

Of Course

As we are all well aware, I am completely into any reunion or comeback tour, particularly those that are 90s based. So obviously this morning I bought tickets for Britney Spears / Pussycat Dolls. At first I was going to buy the best seats but then realized how stupid I would be to spend so much money on Britney Spears so I ended up with mezzanine, whatever. Anyways, while everyone else is concentrating on Britney's comeback, I am far more worried about still loving the old wholesome teenager who dated Justin despite his habit of using a full bottle of Dep hair gel every single day, who made googly eyes at her cousin in her first music video, who wore full-on matching denim outfits with her boyfriend at the time, who had an innocent yet adorable rivalry with (the much better singer) Christina Aguilera, the Britney who I went to see in ~concert~ approximately 8 times in a three year period (and I am not exaggerating)...

Looking back, the track suits/jerseys were never a good idea... but then she turned into a total bombshell...

And well, we all know what happened next. But the inner teeny bopper inside of me wants her to do amazing and I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this is not a total I-Wanna-Be-Madonna-show, because if there is anything I HATE in this world, it is present day Madonna. Oh and Britney Spears/celebrities whining about how terrrrible her life is, waaah wahhh wahahahah.

Love+Hate

All I have ever wanted was to be finished with school and in less than a month I will be handing in my final college paper, taking my last exam, and getting ready for my diploma ceremony; I can't even be excited about it. This economy is so terrible every time I am in the elevator at work I hear about 3 or 1 or 6 people getting laid off from some company in the building. AWESOME time to be looking for a job... I wish I had just begun pushing life off further and applying to grad school or maybe I'll just become a vagabond (RE: Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?").

I hate being a pessimist but I am just hooooping that this gets better soon because I do not want to be a bum and there are lots of things that I want that would make me happy happy happyyyy!

Yves Saint Laurent Arty Dots Ring; ugh I die.

Yesterday in Saks Fifth Avenue I was tricked into thinking the entire shoe department was 40% and wanted to walk out into the cold streets with these YSL Tribute Sandals on my feet however it was a mean trick and alas, they are not on my feet.

I love this girls stockings but once I did this to mine for a "pirate party" and I am not sure how it would work out if I did it again? Eh, why not.

And two of my favorite people to look at on earth... once again, why not?

Nuggets of Wisdom

I looove Chelsea Handler. She is the only present day female comedian I do not want to punch in the stomach each and every time they open their mouth (any guess who I am referring to?). Oh, wait, I obviously love Ellen too... Anyway, Chuy is pretty incredible in this PSA as well:

OH and I couldn't find this video on YouTube but if you want to see Emile Hirsch doing what he does best (which is being incredibly attractive)/telling you to vote, then go here.

Reasons to smile!

Today on my lunch break I picked up!:

Extended cut with a second disk!?!? UGH this makes me reeeally want to skip my evening class :(

And tonight starts a new season of my favoritest show forever and ever:

Tonight's episode is going to have guest star's (I'm saving myself for) Luke Perry and Sara Gilbert (and everyone knows about/mocks my ROSEANNE obsession). SO excited! However I really wish I didn't have a German exam to study for tonight because I do not want it to interfere with my busy TV/movie watching schedule.

OH AND JANUARY 23RD:

SEEING MY FAVORITE COMEDIAN/AUTHOR AND HOPEFULLY MIDGET. Seriously, Chuy HAS to be there... right? Anyway I hope that I get to meet Chelsea Handler and drink lots of Ketel One with her.

Come back when you're tan, or tall, whichever happens first.

Entourage has been one of my favorite shows since the first day it aired, but like many series, it has definitely started to lose a lot of steam since its beginning. In fact, the new season premiere on September 7th I was debating whether or not I should watch the new episode last night. But I am very glad that I did! It was a hundred times better than the first of the season... Which leads me to my dissection of the show; what it needs more of and less of:
More - Ari Gold (and his interactions with Lloyd and others, loved the Mark Wahlberg appearance), Drama being INSANE, Turtle
Less - E and Vince. Yes, I do realize the show is loosely based around the livelihoods of these characters, but less face it... Vince is boring and E is just SO ANNOYING. I heard many rumors that this season is going to concentrate more on E developing his career as a manager and Vince failing as an actor (which seems true as of last night), so let's just hope they don't revolve the stories around this TOO much... that would be a surefire way to not get signed on for another season.

And lastly, obviously very excited about my favorite GG Princess being on the show:

Loooove Meester!

BFFF

"It's almost a shame to smoke it, it's like... killing a unicorn."

Go see Pineapple Express. It was hilarious and I am going to have to go see it again ASAP when it is NOT the midnight showing because I have yet to learn that I can never stay awake during any movie uhmmm... ever! Oh and James Franco, marry me?

Kiiiind of in love.

PS: Dark Knight on 360 IMAX = better than the best.

Friday, July 18, 2008

Let's put a smile on that face!

After all of the anticipation, The Dark Knight FINALLY came out and was (as expected) incrediiiible. I am really looking forward to seeing it again on IMAX while not being seated in the second row and at a time when my contacts are not flipping around in my eyes.

Heath Ledger really did an incredible job as the Joker. The entire beginning of the movie, however, it was just making me really sad to watch him... but aside from that, the Joker didn't sound like him, look like him, or have his mannerisms in any way. Seriously an incredible performance and after watching it, it really becomes clear why Jack Nicholson had 'warned him' about taking on such a dark and disturbing role. I think the creepiest/best part was watching how Heath was walking and carrying himself toward the end of the movie when he was walking away from the hospital.

The one thing I could not stand in the movie (as predicted) was Maggie Gyllenhaal's face. Okay I really sound like the biggest asshole ever but while watching her enormous head so close up (uhhh second row remember), I pinpointed everything about her that bothers me.

So, take note of the circled area. #1 - the nose, looks like it is molded from clay. #2 - the droopy eyes (and terrible job at trying to conceal any type of bags) remind me of a Pound Puppy and that is in no way a good thing. #3 - I am not sure what that thing is called that I drew the arrow to (the little slit type thing from nose to lips) but hers is WAY too defined and thin and really creepy. And WHO in their right mind would ever believe Christian Bale would want anything to do with this... thing... ever?!?!

Now that THAT is out of my system, I would like to point out that the two seconds I got of this man made me very happy:

6126 by Lindsay Lohan

SHOPINTUITION has Lindsay Lohan's new ~leggings~ line (as if nobody knows about American Apparel), 6126 by Lindsay Lohan, up for sale. In general, I hate celebrity fashion lines and they are RARELY successful (I love Jovovich-Hawk, Elizabeth & James, and obviously L.A.M.B. -- I don't even like DVB). 6126 is not any different than all of the other celebrity fashion lines that I despise.

Mr. President in Black, $132
All I have to say is... knee pads? Seriously? Oh, and $132? Seriously?

Glimmer Leggings in Black/Gold, $99
Don't they have these at American Apparel for like, $30?

Dom Leggings in Black, $123
I actually really like these ones but would never pay that much for leggings... especially knowing they were "designed" by Lindsay Lohan.

Leopard Ankle Gloves, $42
Would anyone EVER actually wear these horrible things?

Basically, she should have given up (on everything) after Mean Girls.

Really is Bringin Sexy Back

While I still like his music, JT has been a bit of a tool lately... but there is just nottttthing wrong with this new Givenchy ad (I am even looking beyond the 2004 style Photoshop)

However, I think we can still safely say that NO ONE will ever beat David Beckham's Armani ads. So just for fun...

Enjoyyyy!

I think I am in LOVE

with Zooey Deschanel. So I have basically been in love with her since Almost Famous came out BUT all I have been listening to lately is her "band", She & Him. Their album, "Volume One", is just so great and she has such a unique, beautiful voice. Plus it is great to see women in Hollywood who don't just hop from "career" to career because they can/want the attention but have ACTUAL talent. You practically never see her on the pages of Perez Hilton and that is refreshing.

The video above is of She & Him performing on Craig Ferguson. Her voice (surprise!) still sounds amazing, and she looks fantastic -- I love that dress.

This leads me to more reasons of why I love her... she has FABULOUS style -- always. For example:

how perrrrrf is this Zac Posen on her?!

So between being absolutely gorgeous, being in a few of my favorite movies, having a ~romantic~ past with one of my all time faves (Jason Schwartzman, duh. Shut up, Liz!), and an absolutely incredible voice, it is safe to say that I am in love.

Baggy Jeans?!

Victoria Beckham, really? It is RARE to see a photo of her without sky-high stilettos on... But I can see the flip-flops for a day at Disneyland with the fam, five inch heels would not be practical even for the poshest of them all. But, those BAGGY jeans?! Are those David's??? I can name about a thousand different articles of clothing that would have been just as comfortable and not completely heinous. OH well, she is still perfect in my eyes.

Frog Prince Do Me?

Anybody who has ever spoken to me (or lurked me) knows that I have an undying love for both Victoria Beckham and Marc Jacobs. Of course when they began working together for his current line, I was in heaven! I was loving how they release one new ad with her modeling at a time because I always get soo excited when I open up a magazine and see a new one. My personal favorite is the one of her in the enormous Marc Jacobs bag, and the rest are great too, especially when she is looking like she has escaped a looneybin. And now, I never thought I would say it, but I HATE this one:

First thing is first, that bag is just... awful. I do like the color but that GOLDEN FROG?! Initially when I saw this I thought of that episode of Sex & the City when Big gets Carrie the crystal swan clutch that she HATED, then saw all of those fancy women with other bags of the sort (my personal favorite was the asparagus one, ha!). And after thinking about that, I just realized how childish the bag looks... and not in a chic or fun way, but just plain dumb way. Last but not least, before this I would never admit to Victoria looking bad (or less good) in any photo... but I guess there is a first time for everything!

Cozumel

Cozumel, Mexico is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to. I am definitely one for island vacations and have been to more than a few different islands in the Caribbean. Cozumel is small compared to the other Mexican tourist destinations and with far fewer tourists. This makes it a bit more pricey but in my opinion -- it was worth every penny. My stay at the all-inclusive Melia Resorts couldn't have been more pleasant. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly while humoring my very out of practice Spanish. They made sure to give us free vouchers and coupons for as many things as possible, such as cab rides and entrance to Carlos&Charlies and Senor Frogs. There was always more food than anyone could handle at one time and the dinners had "themed" nights. The location of dinner would be in a different spot depending on the theme (ie: on the beach, in a fancy restaurant, etc) and the food was always to die for. Although as a vegetarian I always face the problem at places like this with not having enough to eat, I felt I always had a very decent selection of dishes and never walked away from dinner still hungry. They had a large amount of bars with a enormous selection of drinks and the bartenders always knew what drink you were probably going to order as soon as you walked... or swam, up to the bar. Another really exciting part about the "all-inclusive" aspect of this resort was that the water sports were included, along with bartending lessons, dance classes, and things of the like. The rooms were BEAUTIFUL and far bigger than I was expecting with an entire living area and marble bathrooms. And I was in for a very exciting surprise when I realized our balcony was overlooking the water! The pool was a decent size (although I never actually got in it -- I guess I am more of a beach person) and the beach itself was fairly small but not at all crowded. The only thing I could possibly find to complain about would be to comment on the obscenely large amount of seaweed in the water where it met the sand.
The most famous ruins of Cozumel, San Gervasio, were about a 40 minute cabride away and definitely worth the visit. These Mayan ruins are far from ancient (being built around 1200 AD) and sort of... "humble" in size. So while I definitely enjoyed them, I still would like the opportunity to one day visit Chichen Itza.
This has been quite the tangent, but I would definitely recommend Cozumel and Melia Resorts to anyone who is looking for a nice beach getaway. I am even considering looking into the Sol Melia Vacation Club, so there could be another entry similar to this one in the future!

(A few more pictures can be seen on my Flickr -- which I am going to try to actually start using. It is linked to the right.)

Edit: I went to Perez Hilton a minute after posting this and came to find out that Tara Reid was at the Melia in Cancun at the same time that I was in Cozumel, errr - HA!
