I Should've Played the Lottery Yesterday

Last night was SERIOUSLY more amazing than I ever could have hoped. While seeming very stressful in the beginning -- having to switch between the Project Runway finale and the PHILLIES against the Dodgers when the series was 3-1, come on! But anyway, it ended up AMAZING and everything went precisely how I wanted so, YAY.

The INCREDIBLE Philadelphia Phillies are GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES. Boo on you, Manny and Joe Torre! I will DIE if I get to got to a World Series game. Perhaps I will take this awesome offer into serious consideration. Uhh, lolz? But seriously, FUCK TAMPA LET'S GO PHILLIES!!! I, along with the rest of Philadelphia, are not going to be normal humans until this series is over... I apologize ahead of time.

And then there was Project Runway. Now, after falling in love with (the dreaded) Kenley's wedding dress, I began to worry that I might fall in love with her collection. However, those fears were quickly cast aside when I saw it and everything either a) sucked (Betsey Johnson clearance rack anyone?), b) ripped off of Balenciaga (you and I are on the exact same page, Nina), or c) ripped off of Alexander McQueen. Oh, yes Kenley, we know, you don't "look" at other designers. First of all, that is a blatant lie because I highly doubt it was just coincidence that you put out rip-offs of two of the most important designers in the world right now less than a year after they did it. But, if you really do not... YOU NEED TO. Throughout history, every important artist/designer/writer has not only looked at but learned from and collaborated with other important artists of their time. Tim was right when he said she needs a fashion history course. However, there was one non-rip-off that I LOVED:

Next was Korto who absolutely SHOCKED me in such a good way. Her line was so fun and original yet totally wearable. Seriously, give me these now:

I almost got torn between wanting her and Leanne to win because I LOVED her collection so much... however Leanne had been a consistent favorite of mine throughout the entire season and her collection was absolutely bringing fashion to a new level. It wasn't just "original" but her collection has seriously NEVER been seen before and I loved it!

Love you, you fabulous little bunny!

Kenley Must Go!

I haven't posted about Project Runway in a while... but, a few weeks ago I decided I wanted the final 3 to be Leanne (aka Bunny #1), Jerrell, and Korto. At this point I REALLY cannot decide who I like best out of these three but am super excited to see their final collections and decide who my favorite is. They all have very different points of view yet are all relevant to everything going on in the fashion world today. But, what I was positive about was this one thing: Kenley must NOT be a part of the final 3. Yes, at first I really enjoyed her work but ... okay, we get it, you do 50s inspired dresses. THRILLING. However, this lack of innovation was not the thing that put me over the edge with her... it is the fact that she has THEEE worst attitude in the entire world. #1, don't blame everyone else (poor Bunny) for your short comings and mistakes. #2, take constructive criticism to heart and do just get defensive (believe it or not, Tim Gunn DOES know what he is talking about, and 98% of the time the judges DO agree with him). #3, very important point here - DO NOT SASS HEIDI! Ok, a little sassin' might be acceptable once. But. Being an outright bitch to Heidi. No no no!

Last nights episode (Nature Calls) was kiiind of upsetting (ie: lots of what were they thinking moments) but I feel that often happens when it is down to the final 4 on the show because it is so stressful! Anyway, the runway looks:

By Jerrell
This was my favorite look of the four. While the judges were correct that it could have been cleaned up quite a bit, I thought it was creative and beautiful, plus really reflected the idea of the challenge. WINNER!

By Leanne
While the structure is down really beautifully and it definitely looks like a lavender, the blue fabric in the back reeeally grossed me out. But asides from that, pretty but nothing spectacular.

By Korto
I think the bodice is done REALLY well and I can appreciate her stepping out of her comfort zone but uhhh, yuck?

By Kenley
This is one of those times that are few and far between when I am honestly lost for words. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING. Who in their right mind would ever think this was a good idea to make/wear? Ugh.

Now aside from the fact that Kenley hasn't exactly been WOWING anyone and is the biggest bitch to be walking on this planet (oh, and how irritating is her voice?) how was ^THAT^ dress not enough to get her eliminated!? The whole 4peopledofinalcollectionson3showatfashionweek ALREADY happened last year. Tisk tisk producers, couldn't think of a new twist? Maybe/hopefully Kenley will use human hair in her collection and get the automatic boot like Chris did last season. Although, when I was looking at the Givenchy S/S 09 RTW Runway collection, I couldn't tell if a trim on a few pieces was fur or hair (I need to look into this...), so maybe Chris had the right idea?

The Coen Bros. did it again!

Seriously, if you have any sort of self respect, go see Burn After Reading AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It was sooo funny, and I am slightly obsessed with Brad Pitt's character (even though I have a slight dislike towards him in recent years due to his relationship with a certain individual...). But the story was really different than most of the dribble that comes out these days (however, I am still entertained by that stuff, too) and every character was really good, although their behavior patterns made me slightly depressed.

Dexter is one of those shows I never really made a huge attempt to get into. While I have seen almost episode due to the obsession my roommate(s) and friends have with the show, Dexter's sister, DEB (played by Jennifer Carpenter aka dumb bitch from Emily Rose), makes me want to rip my hair out... so it kind of kept me away. But last night there was a gap in my TV-watching/homework-doing schedule, so I decided to watch the season premiere. It was pretty good, yet as always... totally over the top and unbelievable. But, I guess that just makes it slightly less predictable than "crime dramas" of the past (Law & Order <3). I have yet to decide if "totally over the top and unbelievable" is a good thing or a bad thing, I guess only time will tell...

Reasons to smile!

Today on my lunch break I picked up!:

Extended cut with a second disk!?!? UGH this makes me reeeally want to skip my evening class :(

And tonight starts a new season of my favoritest show forever and ever:

Tonight's episode is going to have guest star's (I'm saving myself for) Luke Perry and Sara Gilbert (and everyone knows about/mocks my ROSEANNE obsession). SO excited! However I really wish I didn't have a German exam to study for tonight because I do not want it to interfere with my busy TV/movie watching schedule.

OH AND JANUARY 23RD:

SEEING MY FAVORITE COMEDIAN/AUTHOR AND HOPEFULLY MIDGET. Seriously, Chuy HAS to be there... right? Anyway I hope that I get to meet Chelsea Handler and drink lots of Ketel One with her.

In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different

While there was a lot of talk surrounding Lifetime's original movie, the biography of Coco Chanel, I think the fact that it was THREE HOURS LONG probably scared most people away. But since DVR is the best invention ever, I watched it. While I enjoyed it simply for the fact that it was Gabrielle Chanel's "life story" (to a certain extent), I think that there was more I didn't like about the movie than liked. My biggest gripe... Audrey Tatou played a young Coco Chanel, so fittingly, she had a French accent. Fast-forward to post-World War 2 Coco... Shirley MacLaine, who made absolutely NO attempt at a French accent. Strange that the head of the Parisian fashion world spoke like she was from Ohio, huh? As well as this, like most movies/TV shows/etc, it focused too much on the ~love~ story, when I (and probably a lot of other people) wanted to be seeing the foundation of her fashion empire. Not that this was ignored, but it certainly wasn't a big enough focus in the movie. I guess if you are absolutely a Chanel addict the movie is worth watching, but otherwise, don't waste your time.

Oh and side note... last night I had a dream that Chanel had a store similar to the Marc Jacobs accessories store and I got a nylon oversized Chanel clutch for $220. But since that obviously is not and never will be reality, I have decided I would like a Chanel bag for my college graduation/birthday/Christmas. So if anyone plans on spending over $2k on me this winter, a Chanel bag would be greatly appreciated.

THREE DAYS!

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - It's All About Poop

Whoooo is as excited as I am?!?!?!

Come back when you're tan, or tall, whichever happens first.

Entourage has been one of my favorite shows since the first day it aired, but like many series, it has definitely started to lose a lot of steam since its beginning. In fact, the new season premiere on September 7th I was debating whether or not I should watch the new episode last night. But I am very glad that I did! It was a hundred times better than the first of the season... Which leads me to my dissection of the show; what it needs more of and less of:
More - Ari Gold (and his interactions with Lloyd and others, loved the Mark Wahlberg appearance), Drama being INSANE, Turtle
Less - E and Vince. Yes, I do realize the show is loosely based around the livelihoods of these characters, but less face it... Vince is boring and E is just SO ANNOYING. I heard many rumors that this season is going to concentrate more on E developing his career as a manager and Vince failing as an actor (which seems true as of last night), so let's just hope they don't revolve the stories around this TOO much... that would be a surefire way to not get signed on for another season.

And lastly, obviously very excited about my favorite GG Princess being on the show:

Loooove Meester!

Thoughts on the new 90210?

Little bit of a disappointment with large amounts of Chanel.

Bye Bye Bunny

Last night's episode of Project Runway was disappointing to the point where I kind of don't even want to comment on it (how is it that only Joe even DID what the challenge actually was?). However I will say that I am very happy Bunny #2 got kicked off and not my beloved Daniel. I don't see how anyone, even a bunny, could consider this an outfit for a United States Olympian:

Peeeeeeace out.

PS: Blayne WOULD like Across the Universe ew yuck barf.

Bunny Showdown

I missed the chance for commentary on Project Runway Season 5 Episode 2 because I was too busy going to Las Vegas, buuut now that I am back, onto episode 3...

I was VERY happy about the winner (as well as the runner-up), but not so excited about their choice of who to send home. And now that I think about it, I have disagreed with every person they have sent home so far this season.

Looooved:

Designed by Kenley
Winner
I was reallyyyy happy Kenley won since I wanted her to but then was having my doubts and thought the judges might choose Leanne. Everything about this is amazing -- the volume in the skirt, placement of the tulle, and ESPECIALLY the print!

Designed by Bunny #1 (aka Leanne)
Definitely a HUGE improvement from her dress last week when I wanted her to go home. The skirt is done perfectly but it just didn't have the flashy quality that Kenley's did.

Did not loooove:

Designed by Emily
Eliminated
While the placement of those ruffles are basically the most unflattering thing evernd I don't know how ANY designer would think otherwise), I wanted to see more of what Emily had to offer...

Designed by Bunny #2 (aka Jennifer)
This is just sooo frumpy, what woman in their right mind would wear this out for a fun night on the town? Boring boring boring, and what is even worse... I can't remember anything else she has done in the previous episodes. She should have been sent home because of this. Plus, having two bunny rabbits is getting really confusing:
#1. #2.

Oh, and finally... who on EARTH decided to have Sandra Bernhard as a guest judge!? Why why why.

Project Runway Season 5 - Episode 1

So last night was the start of a brand new season of Project Runway (fifth season already?! I hope it doesn't go ANTM on us), and therefore I obviously have TONS to discuss. And just to warn anyone who may care, this contains "spoilers".

First, my favorites:

Designed by Wesley.
This is really wearable and a fun color with nice detailing. With all of his Marc by Marc Jacobs experience I am expecting great things from Wesley.

Designed by Keith.
I LOVE this and would definitely wear it (I am actually ordering a similar looking dress in the next day or two). And I must admit, I didn't think I was going to like this guy when he was talking about his "urban" wear, but I can't wait to see what else he makes.

Designed by Daniel.
This dress, made entirely of plastic cups, REALLY was creative -- something the judges are obviously looking for in a grocery store challenge. Not only was it creative, but it still looks great, so I think he should have won! And, I have a major crush on Daniel.

Designed by Kelli.
Winning Look
While I think she could have done something more with the top, the skirt (made of vaccuum cleaner bags that were dyed and bleached) is absolutely beautiful.

Designed by Kenley.
Really great skirt, nice top, overall good look.

And now, what I HATED (so painfully obvious):

Designed by Jerry.
Eliminated
Ok, so this is totally American Psycho-esque and I do not think any woman in their right mind would wear this out on the town as he suggested. However, I do think that he had a good solid idea/design but it just didn't turn out right. I do not think that he should have been eliminated.

Designed by Stella.
I 100% feel she should have been eliminated for this look. It is trash bags and looks like nothing more than trash bags. This took absolutely no talent to execute and I think they kept her on just to have a "punk rocker" (I mean, we already have Vivienne Westwood... what the hell do we need Stella for?). Ohhh, reality television.

I would also like to point out that I hate the tan man (Blayne) and his stupid diaper outfit very much as well. But I am really excited for the new season because I think there definitely seems to be some quality designers!

And as a side note, last season's winner, Christian Siriano (you obviously know this unless you have been living in a cave), will be debuting his line on Bluefly at the end of this month.

I am really excited to see and cannot wait to get my hands on one of his incredible blouses!

Showtime needs to step it up

So, while I was anticipating the start of the fourth season of Weeds, I had also known the show was on its way down since third season. It had just become too ridiculous and too unbelievable (I say this as if the scenario was ever "believable") but was just interested to see how they would even TRY to keep it going after the season three finale. And anyone who saw the season premiere, Mother Thinks the Birds Are After Her, the attempt wasn't very successful. Instead, it has become even MORE unbelievable (yes, moving 2 hours south to San Diego will make allll of her problems disappear... riiiight). There still are some funny parts but definitely not as good as in the first season (which was amazing!) or the second season. Basically, I am disappointed. But I will probably keep watching because now I just HAVE to know what happens with stupid Nancy Botwin. Oh, and about Nancy Botwin... I liked in the beginning of series how they made her easy to like and made her remain somewhat wholesome and have now turned her into a backstabbing whore. I'm just not on her side anymore? And I think that was the initial goal of the show?

I also decided I would try out the new series, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (the name is too long). I actually already saw the first two episodes (yay for OnDemand), and the first one was definitely better than the second. I liked the introduction type of thing she did in the first episode. I do not like that they are breaking the fourth wall in the show (think first few episodes of Sex & the City, main character talking to the camera). I guess it is good for establishing the premise of the show but I think it will get really old really quickly and I am assuming they will eventually stop it just like they did on S&TC. So while I kind of enjoyed the first episode, although they could have calmed down with the amount of sex scenes, the second episode didn't really old my attention. The show also appears really low budget, and doesn't seem to be purposeful, and it seems silly for such a huge company like Showtime to do that. So I can't really decide what I think but I will probably watch a few more episodes to see where it goes.

In conclusion (god I suck), Showtime has nothing on HBO. New season of Entourage NOW please!

Yes

Obviously went to the midnight showing and the movie was everything I was expecting/hoping for AND MORE. I don't think there was a dry eye in the theater, and if there was, I am sure the amount I cried completely made up for it. I can't wait to go see it many many more times (hi, Titanic part 2) and then for the DVD to come out. I must say the weirdest part was watching this show I have been watching on TV for SOO many years, on the big screen. Anyway, if you are a girl and you have any sort of emotions or feelings or anything of that nature... go see it right now!

Rock of Love 2

I actually kind of really hate Rock of Love 2 and think Wet Michaels is in serious need of a new wig buuut, I am addicted to this garbage anyway. So, my take on the Holy Trinity (aka: the final three)...

Ambre:

You are really annoying and have dumb hair and an even dumber face.
PS: nice hat.

Destiney:

EW TRASH EW TRASH EW TRASH. That is all.

Daisy (DeLaHoya, ahem...):

Even though the tattoos on your throat are the worst, you possibly have a little bit too much fun with plastic surgery, and cry more in one episode than most people do within their entire lives... you are adoraaaable and I might be in love with you?
