Bunny Showdown

I missed the chance for commentary on Project Runway Season 5 Episode 2 because I was too busy going to Las Vegas, buuut now that I am back, onto episode 3...

I was VERY happy about the winner (as well as the runner-up), but not so excited about their choice of who to send home. And now that I think about it, I have disagreed with every person they have sent home so far this season.

Looooved:

Designed by Kenley
Winner
I was reallyyyy happy Kenley won since I wanted her to but then was having my doubts and thought the judges might choose Leanne. Everything about this is amazing -- the volume in the skirt, placement of the tulle, and ESPECIALLY the print!

Designed by Bunny #1 (aka Leanne)
Definitely a HUGE improvement from her dress last week when I wanted her to go home. The skirt is done perfectly but it just didn't have the flashy quality that Kenley's did.

Did not loooove:

Designed by Emily
Eliminated
While the placement of those ruffles are basically the most unflattering thing evernd I don't know how ANY designer would think otherwise), I wanted to see more of what Emily had to offer...

Designed by Bunny #2 (aka Jennifer)
This is just sooo frumpy, what woman in their right mind would wear this out for a fun night on the town? Boring boring boring, and what is even worse... I can't remember anything else she has done in the previous episodes. She should have been sent home because of this. Plus, having two bunny rabbits is getting really confusing:
#1. #2.

Oh, and finally... who on EARTH decided to have Sandra Bernhard as a guest judge!? Why why why.

Not a bad hangover

What happens when you are out drinking in Las Vegas until 7am, wake up at noon only to drink more, and then go into the Caesar's Forums:

Dr. Fish

The things people will do for the sake of beauty... The new "up and coming" pedicure is a fish pedicure, where little carp (toothless fish) nibble away at the dead skin on your feet in a communal tub for about 15-30 minutes, after which you'll get a regular pedicure MINUS the razors. The razors are the part that they were trying to eliminate by creating this crazy pedicure, due to problems at a spa in Virginia (Yvonne Salon) with state regulations regarding razors used during pedicures.
While I love my regular pedicures and I am definitely open to new sorts of beauty treatments, I think it'll be a loooong time before I work up the courage to have a fish pedicure.

Let's put a smile on that face!

After all of the anticipation, The Dark Knight FINALLY came out and was (as expected) incrediiiible. I am really looking forward to seeing it again on IMAX while not being seated in the second row and at a time when my contacts are not flipping around in my eyes.

Heath Ledger really did an incredible job as the Joker. The entire beginning of the movie, however, it was just making me really sad to watch him... but aside from that, the Joker didn't sound like him, look like him, or have his mannerisms in any way. Seriously an incredible performance and after watching it, it really becomes clear why Jack Nicholson had 'warned him' about taking on such a dark and disturbing role. I think the creepiest/best part was watching how Heath was walking and carrying himself toward the end of the movie when he was walking away from the hospital.

The one thing I could not stand in the movie (as predicted) was Maggie Gyllenhaal's face. Okay I really sound like the biggest asshole ever but while watching her enormous head so close up (uhhh second row remember), I pinpointed everything about her that bothers me.

So, take note of the circled area. #1 - the nose, looks like it is molded from clay. #2 - the droopy eyes (and terrible job at trying to conceal any type of bags) remind me of a Pound Puppy and that is in no way a good thing. #3 - I am not sure what that thing is called that I drew the arrow to (the little slit type thing from nose to lips) but hers is WAY too defined and thin and really creepy. And WHO in their right mind would ever believe Christian Bale would want anything to do with this... thing... ever?!?!

Now that THAT is out of my system, I would like to point out that the two seconds I got of this man made me very happy:

My Lil Ponyyy

I am not very much into home decor/design, but how great are these!

The Re-Cyclos tea set where the legs of a bowl were all porcelain horse heads, the napkin ring made of horse legs, the handles on the cups and mugs were horse legs as well!

I really hope I get a strip tease from this lil guy in Vegas next week.

Project Runway Season 5 - Episode 1

So last night was the start of a brand new season of Project Runway (fifth season already?! I hope it doesn't go ANTM on us), and therefore I obviously have TONS to discuss. And just to warn anyone who may care, this contains "spoilers".

First, my favorites:

Designed by Wesley.
This is really wearable and a fun color with nice detailing. With all of his Marc by Marc Jacobs experience I am expecting great things from Wesley.

Designed by Keith.
I LOVE this and would definitely wear it (I am actually ordering a similar looking dress in the next day or two). And I must admit, I didn't think I was going to like this guy when he was talking about his "urban" wear, but I can't wait to see what else he makes.

Designed by Daniel.
This dress, made entirely of plastic cups, REALLY was creative -- something the judges are obviously looking for in a grocery store challenge. Not only was it creative, but it still looks great, so I think he should have won! And, I have a major crush on Daniel.

Designed by Kelli.
Winning Look
While I think she could have done something more with the top, the skirt (made of vaccuum cleaner bags that were dyed and bleached) is absolutely beautiful.

Designed by Kenley.
Really great skirt, nice top, overall good look.

And now, what I HATED (so painfully obvious):

Designed by Jerry.
Eliminated
Ok, so this is totally American Psycho-esque and I do not think any woman in their right mind would wear this out on the town as he suggested. However, I do think that he had a good solid idea/design but it just didn't turn out right. I do not think that he should have been eliminated.

Designed by Stella.
I 100% feel she should have been eliminated for this look. It is trash bags and looks like nothing more than trash bags. This took absolutely no talent to execute and I think they kept her on just to have a "punk rocker" (I mean, we already have Vivienne Westwood... what the hell do we need Stella for?). Ohhh, reality television.

I would also like to point out that I hate the tan man (Blayne) and his stupid diaper outfit very much as well. But I am really excited for the new season because I think there definitely seems to be some quality designers!

And as a side note, last season's winner, Christian Siriano (you obviously know this unless you have been living in a cave), will be debuting his line on Bluefly at the end of this month.

I am really excited to see and cannot wait to get my hands on one of his incredible blouses!

I don't wanna be your friend, I just wanna be your lover

After telling Ross how excited I am about getting tickets to see Radiohead on August 12th (YES YES YES), he suggested I watch their new video. It is for one of my favorite songs off of In Rainbows, "House of Cards". I reeeeally like the video!

In Radiohead's new video for "House of Cards", no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data.

Directed by James Frost

Cannot even begin to explain how excited I am for August 12th!

New Stuff

Just for a minute I would like to brag about some of my favorite new things that I got during my (much too short) trip to Los Angeles to visit my best friend.

Betsey Johnson 'Bohemian Betsey' Ring
The Betsey store on Melrose was having THE MOST AMAZING sale ever (I'm talking 2 for 1). I also got this PERFECT denim romper and adorable, flashy dress! They are incredible but I can't find pictures of them online.

Carved Lucite Electro Cameo Mod Ring from Tarina Tarantino
Tarina Tarantino is one of my favorite west coast stores (edit: Arielle told me there is a Tarina Tarantino in SoHo!). I always find soo many cute things when I go there!

Chanel 3135 Glasses -- FINALLY! Now I just need to get my prescription filled.

Chanel nailpolish in 'Rodeo Drive' (the light purple one) from the Robertson Blvd. collection. While I love this nailpolish I must admit I was slightly annoyed when three days after I purchased I got an e-mail saying that the "exclusive" collection is now available for purchase on Chanel.com. Ohhh well!

Aromatherapy Interventions from Kitson. Soooo good!

Minnetonka Black Ankle Hi Tramper Boot from Kitson. Even though I promised myself not to buy any shoes for a while -- I just couldn't resist!

Okay weeeee, I shop WAY too much.

6126 by Lindsay Lohan

SHOPINTUITION has Lindsay Lohan's new ~leggings~ line (as if nobody knows about American Apparel), 6126 by Lindsay Lohan, up for sale. In general, I hate celebrity fashion lines and they are RARELY successful (I love Jovovich-Hawk, Elizabeth & James, and obviously L.A.M.B. -- I don't even like DVB). 6126 is not any different than all of the other celebrity fashion lines that I despise.

Mr. President in Black, $132
All I have to say is... knee pads? Seriously? Oh, and $132? Seriously?

Glimmer Leggings in Black/Gold, $99
Don't they have these at American Apparel for like, $30?

Dom Leggings in Black, $123
I actually really like these ones but would never pay that much for leggings... especially knowing they were "designed" by Lindsay Lohan.

Leopard Ankle Gloves, $42
Would anyone EVER actually wear these horrible things?

Basically, she should have given up (on everything) after Mean Girls.

One week!

Since I saw Batman Begins at midnight on opening night, it is obviously appropriate to see The Dark Knight the very second it opens as well. SO! We have tickets for the 12:01 showing and I am SO EXCITED. Very glad I do not have to sit through Katie Holmes, but not entirely stoked on Maggie Gyllenhaal either (but at least she doesn't talk out the side of her mouth). What is with these less-than-great leading ladies?

Topshop

Who else cannot wait for Topshop to open in Manhattan in October?!

New York Magazine posted the Fall 2008 Collection and now I am even more excited!
